Last Friday February 3rd, 43 French students from Mt. Abe and VUHS traveled to Québec City to experience 3 days of fabulous French culture, cuisine, art, history and winter fun! This was the first time to Québec for most students and the first time visiting Canada for others. It was a voyage of many first time experiences, including: ordering food in French, visiting an 11th generation sugar shack complete with evening dogsled runs, observing the parade and participating in other activities as part of Carnaval de Québec (Winter Carnival), touring the Hotel de glace (Ice Hotel), eating traditional French foods, acting as soldiers in the British Army circa 1758 and visiting a winter tubing park where many students had the opportunity to speak in French with the local population! Madame Clayton and Mr. Wyckoff were the VUHS chaperones, and would like to thank all students for their responsible, kind and outstanding representation of our school this past weekend! One picture is the group in front of le Chateau Frontenac and the other picture is Bonhomme Carnaval (in the parade).
