Cara Filler Presentation

Cara Filler spoke to Vergennes Union High School students in grades 9-12 on Tuesday March 22. She inspired many students and adults to think about the choices they are making and that while taking risks is important to learning and growth, we have to know when to avoid or remove ourselves from dangerous situations. Her real-life stories were funny, sad, and intense. She captivated the audience for a full hour. Ask your student about the presentation to see what she/he thought. Below are some photos from the assembly. Check out Cara's website. This presentation was paid for by one of the ANWSU prevention grants. - Jay

Thanks Class of 2016

Tom Thelen's presentation to the middle school was made possible by the generosity of the senior class of 2016, who donated money they raised through their fall walk-a-thon. It would not have been possible without the hard work of Sara Stearns, Lee Shorey, and a few others. - Jay

Tom Thelen Presentation

Tom Thelen spoke to VUHS Middle School students on Tuesday March 22. He inspired us all to "Be the Change" and make a difference by helping us
  • identify bullying and how to respond with respect.
  • break free from bullying and develop emotional intelligence.
  • have positive self-esteem in any situation.
  • “Be The Change” at our school.
We see a difference in the ways students are interacting with each other and we hope that lasts for a long time. Ask your student about Tom's message. Check out Tom's website. - Jay

Best of Intentions

I had every intention of getting this blog up and running consistently at the beginning of this school year, but obviously that did not happen. No time like the present though, right? So check back to see what's new at VUHS (and some stuff that's happened earlier this year that will be posted over the next week or so), enter your email address to get regular updates, and/or follow @VergennesUHS on Twitter. Every post on this blog automatically feeds to the VUHS Twitter page. - Jay
