8th Grade Student is Recognized for his Accomplishment on the UVM Mathematics Exam

The University of Vermont’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics sponsored the 59th Annual High School Prize Examination in Mathematics on March 9th. This year students from 51 schools throughout the state participated in this test, including nine brave souls from VUHS. This is a 2-hour test that does not allow calculators. There are 41 questions, which include Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and lots of problem solving. UVM recognizes the students who place in the top ten percent of all students who took the test and the person with the highest score from each school. This is the 2nd year in a row that Kai Williams received both honors for VUHS. He placed 6th overall in the state of Vermont, which is a very impressive accomplishment. He was honored and received his award at Math Day May 17th at UVM. Congratulations Kai, we are very proud of you!
